You run the office while the crews are out working. Answer the phone, follow up on the people who called in, get their estimates out and keep the schedule full. $18 to $22 an hour depending on what you bring to the table.
You are the person who holds the day together. The phone rings, you pick it up. Somebody asked for a price last week, you follow up. An estimate needs to go out, you send it. The crews need to know where they're going tomorrow, you put it on the schedule. It's the whole office in one seat, and when you do it well the trucks stay busy.
Homeowners calling about a tree in the yard. You get the details, you're friendly about it, and nobody goes to voicemail while you're at the desk.
People call, ask for a price, then go quiet. You call and text them back until you get a yes or a no. A lead nobody follows up on is money left sitting there.
Get the numbers written up and out to the customer the same day, then make sure they actually saw it.
Put the signed work on the calendar so the crews have a full day, the addresses make sense together and the customer knows when we're coming.
Who called, what we quoted, what's booked and what's still open. If it's in your head instead of in the system, it gets lost.
Somebody who has done this kind of work before and doesn't need to be walked through it. You don't need to know anything about trees. You do need to be good with people on the phone and comfortable on a computer.
Office manager, scheduler, dispatcher, front desk. Somewhere you were the one answering the phone and keeping the calendar.
Email, spreadsheets, scheduling software. You should be the kind of person who figures out a new program instead of avoiding it.
You're the first person a homeowner hears. Friendly, clear, and you don't get flustered when somebody calls upset about a tree on their fence.
Nobody is going to hand you a list every morning. You keep track of what's open and what's next.
